This week, we aimed to identify improvements for our tabletop game through playtesting.

Test Play with others

At first, we try to playtest with other group members. After having few round of testplay, we ask for their feedback and have a short meeting to discuss what should be improved or changed.

Feedback after a few rounds of test play:

  • From the few rounds of playtesting, we found that the descriptions on the action cards were a bit complicated.

  • Players need to spend time looking for what phobias other players have so they can use their action cards. After acknowledging this problem, we decided to try a new card design to simplify the descriptions on the action cards.

  • We also found that players always forget about the immunities because they don't really need to use them. So, we decided to try changing the immunities of each character into character abilities.

  • We will work on the design and test it out in the next playtest.Currently, our cards don't have much colorful visual differentiation, making it hard for players to tell them apart. We are going to complete the visual design before the next playtest.

  • Players will also affect by phobia card by then can't use their abilities when they have three phobias card from the same category

Further Improvements:

  • Players affected by phobia cards cannot use abilities if they have three phobia cards from the same category.
