Week 5 : Test Play and Feedback

This week, we test-played our tabletop game to ensure everything was working well and made balance changes based on feedback.

Feedback:

  • Event cards were confusing as some affected the user negatively. Changed to impact other players.

  • Immunity wasn't useful; added more event cards affecting immunity.

  • Added a rule to discard phobia cards causing damage to avoid accumulation.

  • Simplified card descriptions using Canva App and added symbols.

Slide Categories:

  1. Introduction: Overview and purpose of the card game.

  2. Game Concept: Theme, target audience, and unique selling points.

  3. Game Mechanics: Basic rules, gameplay flow, and winning conditions.

  4. Components: Description and examples of card types and additional game pieces.

  5. Art and Design: Visual style, card layout, and packaging design.

Art Style and Direction:

  • Planned the art style inspired by the fantasy survival game "Don't Starve."

  • Created sketches of characters based on their weaknesses and immunities.

  • Designed the Sleep Meter inspired by a health bar from ArtStation.

Improvements:

  • Removed the discard rule for phobia cards causing damage.

  • Added a rule for event cards to be used after a whole round, affecting all players.

  • Simplified card descriptions and added symbols.
